Basic problems with my camera or me

Recommended Posts

hello everyone. I have a canon 600d camera and although I have read and read the manual I cannot find and answer to my problems. I took some pictures of a couple of night time targets last night (Oct 31st) but when I uploaded them into deep sky stacker some of the picture sizes were different, why? I took all of the darks/flats and subs with not touching anything on the camera. My sequence of events went

-set the camera to RAW.

ISO 800

Manual

I used a remote cable release in order to reduce camera shake.

I also found that some of the pics were JPEG with some others being RAW, why? I never altered anything.

What have I done so that I can avoid it next time? Please help.

Yep. Press the menu button on the top left of the camera.  The 'quality' setting is the first item on

the first menu window.

Thank you both for your comments there are two settings and the one I set the camera to is RAW only. All I did was take the pics, using the remote then put the lens cap on and took the same amount of darks, again using the remote. I've been playing with the camera for ages now using different menu settings and for the life of me I cannot see where the problem is, also there is a delay of about 10 seconds between me pressing the shutter button and the picture actually being taken. I have checked the settings and nos 7,8,9 are all on zero. What do I do next besides give up?

Load the subs into DSS and look down the sub list to check they are all the same size.

I have had this problem in the past and it was down to me loading the wrong subs...

The delay could be caused by leaving Noise reduction on or a slow memory card.
