I know we have to look at other alternatives to Earth in the future, but blimey, this is sketchy. If you get a problem with the airship (is it air on Venus?) you become boil in a bag before you pop.

Airships over the years don't have a great track record, and even with our present technology it would be years before we could live in Earth's clouds.

Something at least a bit similar to Terra Firma makes an excellent, if not essential, foundation for building new civilisations. Having to continuously battle against gravity as well as overcoming all the other major obstacles seems way too risky.

Can you imagine someone saying, "What's that hissing noise?"......Clench.

Well, if I was on an airship floating around Venus and someone said that, I'd down the rest of this bottle of Jack Daniels I just received today :D . Otherwise I might get another week or two out of it before I start the Glenfiddich ;) .

I actually like that alot (for earth) maybe slightly a nostalgic feel but in principle cost to lift sounds pretty amazing. I have some concerns over the availability of helium in the long term.

As for Venus Let's build a permanent floating city over earth. That would also be somewhere for part of the human race to escape to in an emergency.
