Hi everyone. Just had an Explorer 130 for Christmas! Didn't expect such a beast! Got to learn a whole new language, terminology and vocabulary - might need some advice and help in due course. Bye for now.

Welcome to EMS Ray.

You will get all the help you need here, and lots of members started with or still use the Explorer 130 or similar :)

Hi Ray, a warm welcome to EMS.

Well you're off to a good start, that's a good scope to get going with, and will show you a good number of objects.

Have a squint round the guides and tutorials to get you started, and feel free to ask any questions you have in the beginners and help section, and someone will be along to help out.

If you can get away from light pollution, you will be able to find things you cannot find from your garden. We have two dark sites, one at Belper, and one at Wymeswold, you would be very welcome to join us when we finally get a break in the clouds that coincides with time off work.

Have a look at the Moon, that will show you some really good craters and mountains, and it is at a good point in the lunar cycle before it gets nearer full.

In the meantime enjoy the forum. :)
