MPOLE Posted April 17, 2015 Share Posted April 17, 2015 The next meeting of the Long Eaton Astronomy Society is on Friday 24th April. We are very proud to be welcoming Hayley Flood back to the school for this special meeting. Hayley was awarded the Patric Moore Medal by the Royal Astronomical Society for her work within TLES in setting up the Malcolm Parry observatory and her work in education surrounding astronomy. As the founder of our society back in 2012, this will be the first time Hayley has made a presentation to the society since leaving the school in 2013. The subject for the evening will be the 25th Anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope. Hubble has brought us a great number of discoveries and has really helped with our understanding of the Universe. The meeting starts at 6:30pm with refreshments available from 6:15pm. If the weather is clear there may be opportunity to observe the Sun prior to the talk, if the Sun is too low it might be possible to observe Venus instead. As always everybody is welcome. The meeting is free to attend for members or for a suggested donation of £2 per person for non members. Under 16's welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
