MX 916 and Maxim wont talk

Heres one for you techies out there.

My new camera is a Starlight Express MX 916

It is one of the older types that is using the USB 1.1 Interface box of tricks.

Now I have set the Camera up using the Starlight Express software and drivers so it now works using the Starlight capture software.

What it will not do is talk to Maxim.

In fact Maxim cannot even see it on my computer.

Starlight Express says it will work in Maxim   :ok:

Maxim says it will work in Maxim  :ok:

The MX 916 how ever does not say a thing.  :sorry:

Steve and Stephen are trying to solve this mystery for me but I thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone knows the answer.

All ideas and suggestions gratefully received as I have tried all I know which frankly is not a lot when it comes to computers.

If it helps any this is a picture of my Device Manager showing all the bits in it relating to the MX 916.

Hi Folks

Thanks for the replies.

Sheila

The computer is the one I got from you but it is now running XP Pro.

I did download the obsolete drivers.

I installed them but to where I dont know

Do I need to put them straight into Maxim and if so how do I do it.

Clive

Update.

Went into the obsolete driver folder and copied the driver for my 916.

This I then pasted into the maxim folder.

Opened up Maxim and hey presto the camera was there.

Clicked connect and it did.

Clicked on start to capture a single 1 second sub and it froze.

Ctlr Alt Del click on end task..

Clive tried the link and downloaded the file.

It ran a check and said I did not need any thing else so still have the yellow question mark on the SM Bus.

Hi Clive

its a duel core thingy.

It had a complete install with Windows XP Pro 32 Bit and is upgraded to service pack 2

It is a tower pc

Thanks for the link, I have read that but mine is a usb 1.1 rather than a parallel port connection.

Clive I ran the upgrade software from that link you gave me and half way through is bailed out with a fault code of - OX 800713ec ASIA.

Googled this and it says its a fault with the . NET  framework 3,

ITS WORKING !!!!!!!!!

Massive thanks goes to Steve ( ibbo )

He has cracked the problem for me.

Followed his instructions reloading the camera , then worked out a start up regime which requires the disconnection of the other two HID devices, the Hitec - Astro usb focuser and the X Box game controller.

Boot up the pc and fire up Maxim.

Once Maxim has got the camera I can then reconnect the focuser and the game controller and all is happy.

All I need is a clear sky now to do a full imaging run.

Another massive thanks to Steve  :notworthy: I can sleep easy now that is sorted.
