Sun White Light 07/06/2015

A large white light image of the sun from Sunday...

Nikon D5000, best 13 of 333 frames.

ED80 and 2x Barlow (hence large image scale!)

Processed in PIPP, stacked in Registax 5.1 and wavelets, post processing in CS2

May try and improve on this and see if I can get Registax to use more than just the 13 images! Still quite happy with it as the focus is a little better than last time.

That looks really detailed, well focused and very sharp

Clicking only gives me a far less detailed image though.

You must be well pleased with that Steve. :)

Thats a lovely sharp image Steve, very impressive

Still lots of sunspot activity to see.

You prompted me to check for the next Mercury solar transit tables.

I seem to remember there was one due in the not too distant future.

I've checked up, and there is one next year....May 9  2016. Visible from Europe during the afternoon.

Another one on my astro bucket list.

Thanks all.

Yep. Quite pleased. :-) would love to have it sharper still though. A little heavy on the wavelets this one still maybe. What I would love to capture is some of the finer detail in the penumbra. Getting hints of it I think.

Amazed by how many smaller spots there appear to be.

A transit of any sort would be superb to capture. That is certainly something to look forward too!

Best wishes.

Steve
