Johnnyaardvark Posted July 5, 2015 Share Posted July 5, 2015 Nice effort. I watched it for a bit to see if there were many obvious forks but most were hidden in the clouds. A good opportunity though as there were so many flashes so that increased the odds. Decided not to have a go but what a storm. It's a bit like shooting meteors you have to discard loads. You say many were overexposed. I have found if you see a flash in the sky at all you have to close the shutter and move on to the next frame. Has also surprised me (every time I shoot lightening) how low an iso you need. Did you stop it down at all as well? Much better than my efforts as of late... Didn't try this time and last time I tried didn't get lucky at all. Not yet caught any on my nikon from what I can remember but have some good shots from older cameras including some on 35mm film from Ghana. The storms there were nearly always as active as the other nights and the direction was very predictable so I was almost guaranteed to get something on every shot.
