Just seen this on Astromart.

No sign of a price but it's a fantastic collection, and must have took a long time to find. The likes of the 8mm ortho is extremely rare, with only one batch run.

Would love this collection as even though they are 0.965" they are top notch.

Difficult question to answer Martin.

4mm, 6mm are very rare I've seen them for sale for $500.

The 8mm is ultra rare I've never seen one for sale but I estimate $800

The 10mm I've seen for sale for $200

The 12.5mm one is pretty rare I've seen it for about $350

The 16mm and 25mm  ones are quite easy to pick up for about $150

The 40mm ortho is very rare and again about $500

So I would say the whole set $3000

Lovely find  .

Even more expensive than that wooden box of ZAOs!

I'd heard of the 40mm, but that is the first pic I've seen of one.

I just like old eyepieces Pete, just something about them.

The 40mm only connects to the focuser via a M44 threaded adapter.

Given the choice to spend $3000, could that money be better spent though? Are these eyepieces really that good in the field or more a collectors show off set?

Money well spent then haha

Probably.

They are likely to appreciate in value faster than most things the bank could offer :)

Again it's my collector gene coming out.

Yes $3000 could be spent way better  ;)

I think they'd be excellent, but I don't think you'd enjoy the view anywhere near as much as with the Nagler and Delos.

Might be better used as an investment.

I wouldn't expect the view to be as pleasing as through a Delos or Ethos, just wondering about sharpness and contrast. As you know ortho's can be surprisingly sharp and sometimes show more detail then other eyepieces.

They would take some getting used to but would be excellent quality. Not quite the same quality but I use my circle T orthos occassionally in my 5" triplet to good effect.

I know Phil I use my UO ortho's in my triplet and the views are very sharp indeed.
