Hi all,

VDB 152 is well known, a blue reflection nebula at the foot of a long dust column. Next to it is a planetary nebula which is, again, pretty well known. However, I was puzzled by a very faint red streak seen in my own and other images so I went after this with 12 hours of Ha (mostly 3 Nm Astrodon) in thirty minute subs. It turns out that this is a supernova remnant, seductively known as SN G110 +11.3, which must be bigger than the Veil Nebula.

Persuading the Ha to appear in the final image was akin to torture and I'm not proud of having deafened myself to the screams of the data as I said 'We have ways of making you talk...' But, well, we do have ways of making you talk!!!

The picture. Just don't turn on the sound.

Never fails to amaze me how much stuff is going on up there - all in a totally different timescale. Great image Olly. :)
