I had a stab at it back in July, but wasn't happy with the results. I got out for a good clear night last week though and had another go. 27x 30sec exposures, ISO 1600 I had a nice surprise when I started processing it. At first I only saw the central blue and red parts, and then when balancing the background colour noticed the extended green area, which stretched up nicely. Unfortunately though I think that pulling that up led to some purple banding in the centre (and the bright stars are a little banded), but I'll leave that as a learning experience for next time. I guess that's the next step down the long road of added complexity and better images I'll have to investigate the simplest way to capture them.
