12v power

Hi I have looked through some of the posts and have not seen mentioned the use of a 12v transformer, the ones for use in a caravan a bit like an 110 transformer, all you need is a power supply a trailer socket, cable and connector, this will give you unlimited power, if no mains on hand, plug it into the trailer socket on the car, with the transformer you should have enough out putt for 5or6 units.

Hope this gives someone  ideas for future meets.

Cheers

Yup - that's pretty much what I do - plug my 12v transformer into the caravan mains supply. Other folks use the campsite EHU in a similar way without caravans. Dunno if anyone uses the trailer socket solution when we're out in the field..... most I've seen just use 12v batteries which seem to last a four hour average session fairly well. But good to point it out for newbies John. :)

I personally wouldn't use the car's battery to supply a rig, it's just asking for a long walk home. You might get away with it, but it really depends on how good your battery is and how well it's being kept charged.

I think a lot of folks use EHU's at campsites though.

Of course, I could have misunderstood what you meant by this. :)

Do you mean a 12Vdc to 110Vac adaptor?

I am referring to the 12v transformer, that looks like a 110v  transformer. The connectors are the same as a car trailer socket.
