Bit of Astrophotography tonight with my DSLR and not the scope. My first attempt actually and just read up on how to configure the camera for wife field settings. Even the the below photo is very simple I'm still learning. I live in a suburb of Derby that has a little light pollution, so next task is to try photographing in darker Peak District :)

Not sure what to expect but quickly had about 30 mins of clear skies before the clouds took over. The Pleiades star cluster can be seen top right. 20sec exposure, ISO 800

Good start Chris - M45 is very clear in your shots. A dark site will make a difference as you rightly say- onwards and upwards :)

Not only that, but the constellation of Auriga slap bang in the centre, with some of it's star clusters in there as well.

Nicely done Chris, as you say darker skies make a heck of a difference.

Well done Chris! A good start. There is a good bit of detail in there for a 20 second shot. 😀
