Obsy roof wheel question

What sort of wheels/castors or sliding rails are people using on their builds? as much as i would like sliding gate wheels the cost including the rails are out of the budget, simple screw fix nylons keep cropping up over the internet but can be a bit noisy while rubber ones are nice and quiet but have noticed a few people changing them out due to flat spots, later damage or the actual rubber/coating coming off..your thoughts?

i looked at the same system with half round rails and concave wheels but the price was too much, so i bought 2" nylon wheels i think they where, i`ll take a picture of them in the morning, i then bought some ali u rails, but they are not wide enough for the wheels to fit in so i turned them upside down and used them for guide rails so the wheels sit and run at the side of the rails and role along the top of the walls, works well and is fairly quite.

When I had my sliding roof obs I used brass Sash window rollers.

The sort with the groove in for the rope.

Run these on top of angle iron fixed to the roof timber.

Quiet long lasting and simple to fix up.

I used small stainless wheels which were grooved with sealed bearings on stainless angle runner but it does cost I think they cost £ 150 for the lot

I haven't thought of building obs, but looking at it with a slide of roof, would sliding garage door gear do the job, the track would allso stop

the roof lifting, just a thought. :drinks:
