Hi guys

l intend to buy a Skywatcher ST 80 f5 refractor as a guide scope.

i will be using the Altair GPCAM AR0130C as my guide camera.

what I need to know is whether I will be able to achieve focus by purely attaching the guide camera to the ST 80 draw tube or would I need an extension tube?

your help would be very much appreciated

thanks

Graham

Hi Graham,

I had to get an extension for mine, but I would wait to see what ST80 you end up with first...

The camera you have quoted fits as an 1.25" eyepiece would and it says on the data sheet that no extra spacers should be required...

Some SW ST80's have 90 deg prisms some are 45 deg or straight etc. If you are buying second hand it may come modded or ready for you to use.

Extensions are easy to sort out later anyway

Mine had been modded, it had a 2" focusser instead of 1.25", so I bought a 2" extension allowing me to put a 2" eyepiece in place as well as a camera etc.

cheers!
