Valles Alpes

Had a great night on lunar last night. Despite the lack of wind at ground level, up above was turmoil so I was pushing it with barlowing the MAk to F30 but I had to give it a go.

This scope has the capability to show the central rille down the Valles Alpes but I haven't managed it properly yet due to conditions but this is the closest so far. Its the best 2000 frames from 4500 and the rille is just discernible if you squint:D

That is brilliant Phil :)

Apparently the rille is only 300 to 500 metres wide and the valley is up 15 kilometres wide. You must be approaching a resolution of several hundred metres per pixel, which equates to under half an arcsecond resolution.

Great image Phil. You did well considering the conditions. Thanks again for the tour of your Obsy, gave me some good ideas for mine.
