PS, Gawd that looks noisy on here. It looks smooth as owt in Tiff and jpeg direct on PC but as soon as I post on here it goes pants.

Yeah Mike, just cropped a little to get some stacking rubbish off one corner but its at native FL of the ED80, still haven't got round to sorting the reducer out yet but that would make m51 too small on the chip. Actually truth be told this is a bit small on the chip hence the blockiness. This was a test after re PA of the obs mount as I want to get imaging again with the Meade 127 at F7.5. Now that gives a nice image scale with the Atik

Looks good. Have you tried PNG format instead? Hopefully will give you better results than JPEG.

It looks good to me too.

It that another galaxy you've captured on the same image ?

Near the right edge, in the 2 o'clock sort of direction......

nice start Phil

more data more data more data

it may be better hosting it on flickr or photobucket as the 500 limit on here does reduce the quality

I think it's IC4263, a mag 14 spiral galaxy.

TA folks

I usually host on Dropbox Steve, tried pulling it in from there but worse so I did it direct, will try PNG next Leigh to give it a go. Yeah more data would be great, try telling that to the clouds that rolled in :D

Yep I think its 4263 as Daz correctly says

OK lets try a PNG for a laugh

Nah just as bad.

I like that wider field view Phil, still lots of detail.

More of an eyepiece view size wise, but with a lot more detail. Maybe a 40" dob would actually show it like that

If I had a 40" dob I would expect a view as good as the picture shows.

Your workshop should be plenty big enough to build one ;)

I see you have yet another galaxy in there Phil. IC4278 at mag 15.4 is the slightly fuzzy oval star, second one down from NGC5195 with the triangle of brighter stars to its left.

Building one is OK it's funding a 40" mirror and moving the bloody thing. I'll stick with 20" a little bit more within reach.

Nice image, with a few friends in the background if I'm not mistaken.
