Supernova

That would be do-able from a dark site. It could get quite bright.

I got the M101 one last year, it's mind blowing to think that you can see a star destroying itself in another galaxy.

anyone seen it yet?

Not sure, but I think I saw it. I was out on sunday and with my scope I was able to pick out mag 12-13 stars.

took a look at M95 and even though the core was visible I was able to make out a bright point that I couldnt match on my star charts.

supernova perhaps?
