Nice write up Martyn and some cracking pictures.

It was a very enjoyable Monday afternoon out.

I didn't book the day off and I planned some sneaky shots during the afternoon. As it was, I had 100% cloud cover all day. As the next May transit isn't until 2049, I'll be 6ft under by then.

I was hoping some of you further north would have seen it and I'm glad somebody did.

Great report and pics Martyn, Nowt wrong with crocs - it does make a change to be observing during the day, when it's warm - it was blowing a snow blizzard last week!

well it's been a great day!

thanks for sharing!

Nice report and photo's Martyn, We managed I hour 40 minis between the clouds at the start , New solar scope worked very well, Most people down my end of the woods did not see a thing, I was at Bexhill on Sea with the EAS club we had a bout a 110 people turn up to see the event, Some people thought that the Sun spots was Mercury

Glad you had a good day, great report. Cloud gods smiled on most of us in the midlands for once, its about time. I managed about 3 hours of popping out evey so often and having a glegg it was fascinating stuff

Good stuff. I've not looked at the sun through a scope for years so it was cool to see Mercury, a good bunch of sunspots and some prominences all at once. Well worth sneaking out of work for a few hours, and a pleasant surprise with the weather!
