May 26th, Is there anybody out there?

Recommended Posts

Thursday 26th May is the Long Eaton Astronomical Society meeting.

This month we welcome Simon Goodwin of Sheffield University. Simon is an astrobiologist and will be discussing the search for life beyond Earth. If the weather allows there will be chance for solar observing before the talk. This is the meeting postponed from January.

Refreshments will be available from 6:30 with a start time of 7pm. Members free and as always a suggested donation of £2 for non-members.

Really wanted to come. Have an open evening at school so can't make this one. [emoji20]

Well I tried, got to the a50 LE junction and had to turn back because the tailback from LE was at the junction and not moving. Last time I got stuck in it I vowed never again.

Sorry to have missed it.

Sorry Phil. You did miss an excellent talk though, a really good topic with some interesting findings, as of 17.00 tonight there are 3308 confirmed planets around other stars, but only 12 have ever been directly seen!

Yes, I really enjoyed that one.

Sorry you couldn't make it Phil. As Martyn says, it was a great talk, and finally, somebody who can go off topic almost as well as me!

I managed to get him back to the station with 2 mins to spare too. He has said he would love to come back sometime to give another talk, I think that would go down quite well.
