Guest black eyed hexy Posted March 26, 2012 Share Posted March 26, 2012 The splined part is a spitfire relic, on top of this a double spherical ball bearing race swivels the top part, underneath the mount is a pier made of 7 scaffold tubes welded together in hexagon format. not the norm I know but very cheap and very strong. Guest black eyed hexy Posted March 27, 2012 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Hi mick , "very" at the mo it sits on a pier in my garden under construction but once the criteria values have been met it will be transferred to a purpose made trailer for regular transport out to dark sites, so all those wishing for a space walk can have an opportunity---I don,t consider it "my" scope. I did originally plan to plonk HEXY on inlaws farmland in a permanent site but the inlaws were not too happy having the public traispsing on their patch. the next project I wish to embark on believe it or not , is a 36 inch bino as glass for me is cheap and I,ve got my own grinding machine. this will be a ultra lightweight truss dob of a unique design hopefully.
