Great photo's Phil.

I went there about 5 years ago. I thought it was amazing, I love old buildings, workshops etc and had a great day out.

Lovely steam engine as well.

Lovely pictures Phil. Your DF seems to bring out all the subtle colour tones perfectly.

Been to Blists Hill 3 times over the last 5 years. Twice in summer and once for a Victorian Christmas. A great place.

Thanks guys. Blists Hill is a smashing place, been 3 times in 2 years now and love it everytime. The car parks were full to overflowing and I thought uh oh its going to be packed but its big enough to loose everyone.

I love it because of the staff in period dress and actually making and selling stuff. The main foundry is unfortunatelyy no longer operational due to the drop forge anvil sinking but the smaller casting foundary shown above is operational and in fact we bought a couple of door stops from there.

I really want to get in to the old foundry on a tour so I can do some moody HDR shots of the interior details.

It takes about 1.5 hours if we are lucky with traffic to get there but its worth it

Hi Mick

I shot all in colour then chose which looked better in mono in PS. Mainly cos Fliss was with me and I didn't want to spend longer than necessary on each shot, hope she remembers this when Im waiting outside the fitting rooms whilst she buys clothes/shoes/bags/whatever

However I did not cheat entirely, I also took my 1984 Nikon Fe 35mm loaded with Ilford FP4 B+W film and shot 26 frames with that as well :DGot to wait to finish the roll and send to labs for processing before I see the results from those.

The rendering on the last one was a bit difficult due to the bright sun on the tarmac, it was almost blown out due to the metering being on the central area, mainly the engine. So the highlight and shadow function in PS rescued detail in there, it also gives it a more authentic dated look than simple desaturation straight mono conversion, which I like
