Hello All.  A report regarding our meeting last night:

Our September meeting took place last night (the 13th), and it turned out to be an interesting affair.

The evening at the Erewash Museum’s Hayloft began just before 7:30pm with the traditional tea/coffee and chocolate biscuits – how can one resist!

Our Chairman Matt Bowley began proceedings with some news notes, and this included updates on future Society events, which included details of the Equinox Sky Camp in late September;  a number of our members are attending.  Unfortunately, this means that our Shipley Park Meeting that was to have taken place on September 28th has had to be cancelled due to all the keyholders being away at Kelling Heath.

The evening was classed as a general “Members Night”, but it quickly turned into a “film night”.  Mark Thomas provided an entertaining evening of home-grown videos.  This included video montages of the solar eclipse of May 31st 2003, as seen from Flamborough Head;  the transit of Venus in June 2004; the Saturn/Moon occultation and total lunar eclipse on March 2nd and 3rd 2007.  After a short coffee break, the films continued with various timelapse sequences, which included a number of comets, and montages of the sky during the various Equinox Sky Camps.  The evening ended with one of Mark’s short video reviews of the Spring Equinox Sky Camp of 2013.  Even though Mark had showed many of these videos before, they hadn’t seen the light of day (on a big screen) for some time.  We hope everyone enjoyed the evening.

Regards
