Posting Batteries....

Evening all. Quick question....?

I have 2 unused Lithium ion spare camera batteries that i want to sell on eBay.

They have been opened from their original packaging, but only been charged the once.

They are in plastic cases. The camera they were spares for has since been sold on, and at the time i had mislaid these 2 spares.

They cost around £35 new to buy.

I'm sure i can sell them, but what are the rules for posting batteries ?

Am i allowed to post them at all ? Do they need to be charged or discharged ?

I could of course simply pop them in a recycler, but i reckon i can get a tenner each for them......?

Thanks in advance. :)

If you buy a new battery they post it to you so I cannot see why not.

To be on the safe side ask at your local post office.

After a quick search it would seem the answer is no.

You can only send them if they are in the camera although you are allowed to send a couple of spare batteries with it as well.

How stupid is that

That was what i'd read Graham, although i thought it was somewhat confusing.

Also these batteries are only small : 1240 mAh

I suupose i could always chance it and tell the PO its something else ?

I'd prefer not to though.....

Thanks for your input.

Yup - I got a leaflet from the PO a few months ago and batteries were one of the prohibited items. A courier would be your best option I reckon. :)

Ok, thanks then.....

Shame really :( Not worth my while for the potential value.

I'll just have to write them off.

BTW, they are for a Sony RX100 series compact.

If anyone has one, or knows someone who has one, give me a shout.

Free to a good home.

That's a strange one. I have lithium ion 18650 batteries delivered a couple of time a year for my vape stuff. Never had any problems.

Yeah same here re: vapes. Dunno why businesses are trusted more then the general public with sending dodgy materials in the post. And who's gonna fess up anyway if they're sending dodgy stuff and some nosy counter clerk asks you what's in the jiffy bag. lol :)

I have had some delivery companies return batteries to me when they found out they were Lithium

I think i'll try and sell them off on eBay, but do a 'buyer collects'

There must be someone locally with a Sony Rx100 series, and considering how poor battery life is on the average Sony cam,

getting 2 spares for £20 or less which would normally be £70 would be a worthwhile trip.
