Polar scope attached.

Made an adapter today to take the EQ 5 polar scope.

Now fitted to the pier so I can get it aligned and bolted down.

Once that is accomplished I can fill the base with concrete bolt the top back on and get the fork mounted.

Getting there Wayne.

Just need a clear night so I can polar align the pier and then I can really get stuck in to it.

Going down to Galvoptics on Monday to collect the newly coated mirror.

Apparently it came up like new ? ?

Well I think I managed to get polar alignment last night or as near to it as matters for now.

Sky was too light really.

At work today I made up 4 jacking lugs so I could accurately level the whole thing up.

I also made 6 holding down plates.

Came home from work via Wickes where I purchased 1/2 a ton of concrete mix.

Got home had a brew and then started.

Welded on the jacking lugs and proceeded to level the pier.

Once leveled I set the inclination to exactly 52.3 degrees using a rather expensive bit of kit I borrowed from the test shop at work. ( hope they dont miss it ? )

Welded on the holding down plates and fixed them down with Rawl bolts.

Then it was strip the pier down and start mixing the concrete.

I had forgotten just how much fun mixing concrete by hand is.

Net result the pier is now a permanent fixture at my house and I am completely shattered.

Next task is to get the fork round to the pier and get it back to its rightful position.

It doesn't feel quite so fantastic this morning.  I ache in places I had long forgotten about ?

No pain, no gain.

Another day, another telescope part sorted. ?

Fantastic progress. ?
