Bearing Housing number one on the GEM build.

Despite people keep bringing me work I managed to get to complete the first of the four bearing housings today.

The task was to turn this lump of flame cut plate measuring 210mm in diameter by 45mm thick into a bearing housing measuring 190mm in diameter by 40mm thick.

Not only did the housing have to be a precision fit with the bearing case it also had to be a precision fit in the mount body's end plate.

After a few hours work on the lathe and a lot of swarf it looked like this.

This will be welded into place during the final assembly.

The complete thing.

That only leaves me three more to do.

More to follow as I get it done.

Thanks folks.

It coming along.

If they would only stop giving me work to do it would get there a lot quicker.
