Now i realise why you said an EQ8 would be no good.

I noticed that you changed the width and shape of the riser. Was that for better access to the azimuth adjustment bolts?

Well spotted Pete.

Slight miscalculation with the intended one, it just clashed with the adjusting bolts.

I am going to put some gussets in to spread the load.

You are perfectly correct --- It weighs the proverbial ton. 

Those bearings I have fitted cope with it easily and it really is smooth as silk.
