SCT TUBE POSITION IN STORAGE DURING HEAT - WARNING

Folks,

For those of you with SCT's there has been some discussion about storage during heat. If you keep the tube pointing down there is a risk of the grease separating on the focusser spindle and dripping down onto the corrector plate.

Best to lock it in the horizontal.

Cheers

I never considered that possibility.

I would think that both the main and secondary mirrors would also be in danger of getting smeared if warm grease is dribbling around in there.

Useful warning, cheers.
