I'd take a look at the AMD Ryzen lineup, Graham.

I've had a Ryzen 1600X system from when they were first released, and I couldn't be happier.

Graham just had a thought how old is your eqdirect cable is it the old type or the newer fdti type? If it’s the old type see if someone local has the newer fdti type as Eqmod finds fdti no problem it’s to do with the chips in the plug end .

It is the latest type.

The problem is with the way the port selection works.

When I search for the port in eqmod toolbox I only have the choice of the USB 2 ports which I can connect to with out issue.

I need to find a way to get the USB 3 ports on the expansion card to be an option.

Clutching at straws here graham Ahh may have found a Soloution, did you plug a power cable into your card ? Found article that says you should, have a read down page sept 26th https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/my-new-usb-30-host-pci-express-card-will-not/d51996bf-c4a8-45a6-be7a-0ef76fab5eaf

Thanks David.

The card's instructions says dont plug in a power lead unless the ports dont work as they should.

I can plug my usb stick into the ports and they work fine.

Stick is recognized  and I can upload and down load from it.

I will give the power lead a go.

May be this will help with what I am trying to explain albeit badly ?

This is a photo of my device manager with the USB memory stick plugged in.

I have pointed to it but what I need is a way to get it to where it needs to be for Eqmod to find it.

Problem solved.

Plugged in the power cable uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and all is now working.

Soon as I plug the mount hub into a USB 3 port it produces a new com port number that EQMOD can see.

Happy days.

Thanks for all your help folks.

Now I have USB 3 capabilities I can buy that new Planetary camera ☺️

Yes and no David.

Tried the power cable yesterday with no difference.

Craig put me on to reinstalling the drivers after fitting the power cable.

Like magic it worked perfectly.

I hate bloody computers ?
