Power tanks?

Recommended Posts

is there a lot of difference between a 7ah and the 17AH units when there in use? How long can you use each for and are there any differences between a SW or a celestron unit??

Ive got the 7aH skywatcher power tank Ron. It's never ran out on me yet with 2 and a half hours probably my longest single use to date when used to power my Maks goto mount.

Its a nice bit of kit but Im thinking of selling it to fund other bits now I'm up and running with my Baz's battery.

What sort of price are you looking for Dan, (out of interest?)

I ran my NEQ6 Pro sporting the AA115 from 7pm to 10:30am one night at Kelling using a Celestron Powertank with an upgraded 20ah battery in it. It was on constantly all night and still tracking Jupiter accurately well into the daylight.

I did have dew bands but they were running off a psu - I allways seperate the heaters to reduce battery drain. With the original 17ah I regularly used to get 4-6hrs (CPC mount only) untill very heavy dew one night short circuited everything in the pack. Fortunately the scope electrics were ok.

But for the price - do yourself a favour and get an 85ah Leisure battery from a caravan accessories shop which is much better and a heck of a lot cheaper - or even better still hang on for one of Baz's batteries. :)

Those leisure batteries are bl..dy heavy, I know my caravan has one and I did my back in last year! I suppose the 17ah battery is the one to go for? Baz's batteries sound intriguing ??

I have a Baz battery, it is one of the 17AH batterys and it is not too heavy. Powered the mother in laws 130P goto for hours with no sign of giving up, I`m using it to power my dew system.
