Update to New Obs

Alec

Recommended Posts

Not completely finished, but well on the way. The purling’s supporting the roof structure and runner rails have been fitted, a few minor adjustments to make,  then the roof will slide a full 3 meters without bolts snagging under the existing roof. The pier has been fitted, levelled and roughly pointing to Polaris.

Weather brush seals being fitted atm and the front door painted and brickwork, looks like a brand new garage with a sunroof 😂

I’ve still 3 weeks left before my new scope arrives via boat, so plenty time left 👍

Certainly looks a lot less like a builders  merchant yard now! Looking good, what's the new scope?

Hi Clive

I wanted something light weight (carbon fibre), so can still go mobile with my CEM25P mount and wanted a super fast F rating. For the money the only other scope came close was a rasa 8 but nearly twice the weight so a no no

I keep looking around for a wide aperture, fast but lightweight scope for imaging. I've not come across that particular one before so I'll certainly be very interested in your opinion when you use it in anger.

It’s the most expensive scope I’ve bought, so was quite hesitant before pushing the button. I’ve seen quite a few good write ups on it and also found out that this manufacture supply’s the brands TS Optics so let’s see.

Observatory looks fab Alec, well done

Thx, has been a big job, but coming along nicely. I’ve still some adjustments to make, partially insulate some walls, drop in some electrics and boarding. Then lay some flooring. Should keep me busy 😂
