Binoculars

Rookie question

What binoculars do you need for observing. Some one told me always to take some as well as scope.

I have some that say they are 12 x 50, is this OK or not?

They will do fine, as long as you can lean them on something when viewing!

I have a pair of 10x50 porro prisms that are hand hold'able, and a pair of 15x70's for which I use a tripod. !2x50's will serve well - but do have a list of current stuff to look for - it will help your finding skills and show you what to expect in the telescope at low magnification. I allways have a pair with me when I take a scope out :)
