Popular Post Clive Posted September 25, 2020 Popular Post Share Posted September 25, 2020 I'd checked that I could just get both sides of the Veil Nebula in the field of view of my 400 mm lens so attempted this target on Sunday. Unfortunately I forgot to orientate the camera correctly and only captured the western portion. Had another go Monday night and after after minimal cropping to get rid of the stacking artifacts, I just managed to get them both in. I've since spent the rest of the week playing with the image trying to lessen the impact of the huge quantity of stars in this region. There are so many variations that can be applied, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. So in the end, I've settled with this one. Not completely happy with it, but I don't think I can squeeze out any more from the data I've got. Usual setup, Canon D200 with 400 mm lens, SW EQM-35 mount. 80 x 180 sec at F5.6, ISO1600, guided using PHD2, stacked using DSS and processed using IRIS and Starnet.
