Popular Post alis80b Posted April 5, 2021 Popular Post Share Posted April 5, 2021 My first try at a galaxy.. well 2! 😂 97 lights (80 seconds ISO 800) 50 flats 50 bias (no darks) Skywatcher 80ED 0.85 reducer/flattener HEQ5 mount (unbalanced and I forgot to lock the focus...again) Canon EOS Ra Unguided Stacked in DSS (my first time using it last night) Processed in Photoshop (I just had a play around with it). I know the stars look dodgy. I'm sure using the 'burn/dodge/clone stamp tools' to try to make the stars look less bright/get rid of halos etc. isn't the way forward, but that's what I did! 🙈). It's massively cropped (more than I intended, due to a dust mark or something just out of this view). Use them for sorting out your stars and loads of other stuff. I have watched loads of Trevor‘s YouTube videos. They’re great and really easy to understand. BAZ Posted April 6, 2021 Share Posted April 6, 2021 You have turned out a cracker for your first galaxy shot, not only that but there is good detail in both, yeah the stars aren't quite right, but you have got the galaxies. It looks like you are bitten by the astro bug and you have come a long way from learning to polar align, which wasn't all that long ago. I think it's just a matter of finding the right software and workflow that suits you and you'll be there. Yeah, I've definitely got the astro bug! I'm totally winging it with processing at the moment! I know my way around photoshop which helps but most of the things I would use for normal photography aren't really relevant. 🙈 I've downloaded the 'Astronomy tools actions' so will have a play around with those.
