A quick Pelican in RGB

I realise there's no 'right way up' for astro images but it took me a while to recognise the Pelican that close up (without NGC7000 in the field) as I'm so used to seeing images of it rotated 90° to 180° CCW! Great image though, and whilst the HST pallet works well on this target, I do prefer RGB images in general.

It looks very ' washed out ' and bland on here but going over to the full res image it takes your breath away.

At full res it takes on a whole new life and is just stunning.

I too like an RGB but as you say this one completely transforms in HST

That's pin sharp Pete, the more you look the more you see.

I love this scope, its very special....super pin sharp.....its been sitting on the floor in the observatory for months now. I've not had the time to sort it out....finally done it ....I had to rebuild the Paramount I changed the bearings and RA worm it looked like a Lego set at one point, but the guide graphs now from it are just incredible like a dead mans cardiogram.

I have to agree this object can look almost mono in RGB, its quite difficult to pull out those subtle tones convincingly in RGB.
