I have had a small victory with the 10 inch RC

After stripping it down removing the mirrors and cleaning all the oily deposits off of them I rebuilt and collimated it.

This is the result of just 10 300 second subs binned 2 x 2.

No calibration frames just as is.

It still needs a slight tweak as I have some odd shaped stars but I will take it as a small victory.

That could be down to the terrible seeing tonight resulting in appalling guiding.

Typical isn,t it just in time for the end of galaxy season.

I know mine is not spot on but I gave up fiddling with it and will have another go through the light nights.

Becoming time consuming graham hopefully your nearly there , never realised how hard collimating a RC was , pity we don’t get a good run of clear nights.

It is not hard as such Dave.

The issue is there are 2 spherical mirror on an RC both of which can be adjusted.

It is a bit like trying to balance 2 ball bearings on top of each other.

Oh and they also have to be the correct distance apart as well 😉
