Northern Polar Hood?

I was up early and saw Saturn and Jupiter. I also got a few minutes on Mars at 120x and 163x with my Altair 60EDF.

I could just about see the phase although I couldn't see any surface detail. There was a bright large albedo feature over a lot of the north pole. I suspect this could be the northern polar hood. Has anyone else seen this?

Not yet.

I've still not seen Mars, Jupiter or Saturn this current apparition.

Too many trees in the way and battling morning twilight.

I only went out to see Saturn, Jupiter was an added bonus and Mars was a bit of a surprise.

There is a Jupiter/Mars conjunction on Sunday morning. I doubt I'll be able to see it though.

Saw it a few years ago at one of the more favourable oppositions with my 80mm f15

It was quite obvious for a while during the 2020 opposition, I could even see it with the 72ED DS Pro. For a while I actually thought it was the northern polar cap until I realised what it was.

I made this jpeg using Stellarium to describe what I thought I was seeing. I didn't see it this large through the eyepiece of course, and I've blurred the surface features deliberately to give the impression of what I was actually viewing through the eyepiece. I could recognise the surface features. I also rotated the image to correspond to what I was seeing after I'd rotated the OTA or diagonal. It's amazing what you can do in GIMP lol.
