NEQ6 misbehaving after "service"

I put service in "" since it has clearly not benefitted from my taking it apart 😞

I followed @Graham's video and it all went back together OK (just about - me and bearings are not a great match, and mine kept wanting to pop out of the big gold lumps and then land back in on the p just to make it doubly hard) but now I just cannot get anything working in RA. Dec fine, and I have corrected for backlash many times in the past (admittedly never RA because this mount never seemed to need it - not any more!!). I just have a very wobbly RA axis, if I try and sort out worm gear stuff with no load on it _seems_ like it is fine, but put a scope on there and forget it, waggling around ridiculously. I have tried backing off both grub screws and following the methods I know, plus the instructions from Graham on this sub-forum, but to no avail. What is most worrying/confusing, is that once I tighten the curved side grub screw up, if I then undo the flat side, the curved side can't be tightened any further, which I thought was the whole point.

It's all a bit of a mess to be honest, and I am starting to wonder if I need to risk having it all apart again - which I really don't want to do. Any suggestions or words of advice??

Thanks, from one very dejected astrophotographer 😞

Unfortunately with the new security at work I can not get on the forum during the day.

I will pm you when I get home tonight.

We will soon get this sorted.

Thanks Graham, very kind. I wasn't posting this in the hope of getting one-to-one support but I'll certainly take it.

Update: finally managed to get the final float cap off and tightened up the adjuster in there which ultimately was the weak link in what was going on, so I think I'm sorted now. All under the stewardship of the legend that is @Graham who has been very patient with me above and beyond the call of duty. Very much appreciated.

Can I now order a clear night so I can actually test it please?? 🙏

Seeing as you live in Derby you can order as many clear nights as you want Rob 🙂

An Astro buddy of mine (he's in Warwicks) is convinced we get more than our fair share here in Derbados. I'm not similarly convinced 🥴
