300P Flextube Auto - Price check...

Whilst it pains me to ask, my scope is just not getting used and it's taking up space.

If I do sell, I'm either going to bank the money or get something smaller to use come winter, not yet sure.

Can you suggest what I should be asking for the following;

  1. SkyWatcher Flextube 300P Auto - Mint aside from a scuff on the motor casing, but this is purely cosmetic (I have probably used it 10 times)
  2. Revelation eyepiece set
  3. 10mm & 25mm standard cheapo eyepieces
  4. Some books (e.g. latest "Turn Left at Orion" and a few others)

I am seeing loads of 200Ps going for sale, but not many 300Ps so confirming a reasonable price has been a challenge!

:(

Not sure about one with auto, but I've recently paid £550 for a mint 2nd hand standard version.

Wouldn't mind upgrading to yours if I could get most of my money back and yours isnt too much more :)

That's the problem, I don;t have a clue how much I should be asking for it (hence no sale thread).

I seem to recall seeing one go on fleabay recently for around £900 to £1k

Do you know if that was an Auto? Sounds like Goto price.

Craig I'd consider part exchanging my 127Mak if you decide you do want something smaller.

Not sure what I would want yet. All I know is, this one takes up too much space for too little use. :( I did think about a bigger house, but it's a bit extreme for a scope!

Yes the Auto just tracks and the Go-To seeks and tracks.

I have seen them new for between £700 and £850.

So I would say secondhand maybe £650

This one was £955 new, the SynScan being over £1300 at the time... You can see why I did not go for that one!

Current non-Goto start at about £850 from what I can see (new of course) and SynScan still from £1300ish.

I'd hoped for £750 but, as said, I don't know if that's reasonable. I could be in cloud-cuckoo-land!

Well that's that sorted, it's going. Got an offer made so there we go.

I'll look around Xmas time for something smaller and more portable. Maybe then the spark will be back!

Indeed!

I think a smaller scope will entice me back out. My house is just not set up for hauling large and heavy kit about (to get past the fridge I have to lift the OTA above my head).
