I posted up a picture of M42 on my Instagram (here too if you go looking) and immediately a few shrieked that my image had a green cast but I just couldn't see it. So I applied SNCR in PI to remove this (to me) imaginary green cast and everyone said much better, but I'm still none the wiser. Here's the two side by side, not saying which, can anyone else tell this green cast monster from the other?? Am I mildly colour blind??

The right hand one has a green cast.

If you cannot see it then it is probably your monitor.

Every one seems to show slightly different colours.

I am colour blind but it does seem to be the right one. I wouldn't have noticed without the side by side comparison

Hmm!

The right hand image background looks 'green' compared to the left hand image...

But the left hand image background looks 'magenta' compared to the right hand image.

So which is 'correct'? At the end of the day it's probably all in the eye of the viewer and the gamma response of the viewers screen. Perhaps a less aggressive setting of the SNCR might give the optium result?

At the end of the day the histograms should be the guiding factor?
