Refractor strip down

Stu

Recommended Posts

Hi folks. If the 2nd hand scope I bought works out I'd like to get it looking near new again. I assume prepping and painting the tube would require dismantling it? Is this something I could "have a go at" or is it best left to someone who knows what they're doing?

Ohhh what is the new addition?

It's a Scopos TL805. The tube is a bit scuffed and faded, just needs a bit of a refresh.

Not heard of that one before, but looks like a very nice scope.

Don't know if you're seen this article, but it mentions it being modular and easy to break down so you might be in luck as regards stripping it for cleaning up.

Its an Italian site but Google did a good translation.

Cant see any problems with that. Tge cell should just unscrew from tge tube. Cant see if the focuser is threade or held in with screws like the ed80 but no probs if either
