Popular Post philjay Posted April 3, 2023 Popular Post Share Posted April 3, 2023 (edited) Tested the recently acquired Antique 3" F12 out last night on the moon. I hashed up an adapter on the lathe so I could try 1.25" eyepieces as well as fit a camera to it. I lashed it to my EQ5 mount and took some subs of the moon Heres the image, 50 subs at 200 ISO, 1/125 sec, pipped and AS3'd then contrast adjusted in PS. Not too bad for saying my adapter was a little too long and I couldnt quite get pin sharp focus. Plus the inside of my adapter wasnt fully blacked so some contrast loss there (I couldnt find my mat black paint) so used black ink, not as good). I swapped the scope for the my modernised Towa 339 80mm F15 and took the same number of subs just for a comparison. Contrast is much nicer on the Towa because when I updated it I went to town on the design of the baffles and blacking of the interior so contrast is always going to be better on this scope.
