Dew shields

Hi everyone.

Another question. I'd like to get a dew shield for my scope. It's a celestron astromaster eq130. The outside diameter is 165mm (6.5 inches) I'm not sure what the correct size would be to get as I don't know if the specs on websites are for outer diameter or mirror diameter.

Alternatively does anyone know of a good material to make one from, and a good place to get it from.

Thanks again.

Having experimented i have found that the Decathlon stuff hold dew off far longer than others.

I think this is because it has a silver outer skin.

I have spare that i can give you at the next Belper meet.

Saying all that though, my 8" one "only" set me back £35, not a massive amount but when you can make your own for about a £5 then £35 does seem excessive.

If you do go down the proper bought route, phone the shop up first, as a 5" dew shield may not fit a 5" scope, the OTA will always be bigger so you may have to go up a size or two of dew shield.
