DSS groups

Hi folks. When stacking multiple groups together in DSS, do all groups need darks/flats/dark flats?

Also, when using sets of data from different filters (in my case it will just be a dual band filter and the hypercam's integral UV/IR filter), is there a particular ratio of how much of each one to stack together?

Depends, you can have darks ticked in a different group if they are of the correct duration and settings for the subs in the other group, and in fact I think if you did try and add in the same darks to more than one group it won't let you, unless I've misremembered. They will need their own flats etc though in each group.

In terms of ratios, I'm out of a limb with OSC stuff, so I'm not sure there's much point me commenting.

PS - don't forget to tick a "Reference frame" you want all of the subs (in all of the groups) to be aligned with.

So there is some method to it which affects the final image?

Well I only know what I do with mono, which isn't really hard and fast anyway. I tend to aim to end up with say the same amount of luminance as I do the three RGB channels in total. So I guess that's 3:1:1:1 but it really depends and I don't agonise over it too much 😁
