Nice Mike,  there's a lot of stars there 👍

Cheers Dave. Yes, unlike the globs in Hercules, this one is embedded in a rich Milky Way field.

I've viewed this using a 4" refractor and it seemed to blend in with all the backgroun, stars. I suspect one would need a larger aperture. I must get my 8" Newtonian back up and running, it's years since I last used it so I suspect it will need collimating and who knows what state the mirror will be in 🙂

I last viewed M56 visually through my 10" Meade ACF SCT. My notes state: "Using the 21mm Hyperion eyepiece it appears as a somewhat 'open' globular cluster. Through the 10mm Hyperion EP it looks like a faint open cluster seen at low power. The 40mm Swan EP affords a very pleasing view."
