Deserted Island (c/w observatory) Discs

With nothing to do but gaze at the sea and stars, what 3 albums would help keep you occupied?

Go on, humour me 😁

Mine are, in no particular order:

The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails

Hotel California - Eagles

Fear Inoculum - Tool

I thought there would be some Pink Floyd in there but Hotel California pipped them at the post. A true masterpiece in my humble opinion.

ooh now this is so hard. The number of times I've gone through this in my head.

Seconds Out - Genesis

Tales From Topographic Oceans - Yes

Joe's Garage - Frank Zappa

It was a very close call between Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon and Joe's Garage. Zappa pinched it purely because of Watermelon in Easter Hay.

Of course if you asked me again tomorrow it may have a different answer

Any of these might sneak in 3rd spot

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

Chris Squire - Fish out of water

The Yes Album

Carl Orff - Carmina Burana

Tchaikovsky 1812 overture or Swan Lake

Wagner - Der Ring des Nibelungen

Mozart - Requiem

Kate Bush - Hounds of Love

Oh my gosh and there's loads of Tangerine Dream and Santana to think of too, I think my head's going to explode.🤯

One of the early Led Zepplin albums would have to feature in there for me and thinking of what I've listened to recently...

Dire Straits - Brothers in arms

Tangerine Dream - Ricochet

But 3 just isn't enough choice, after all thats just 2 hours worth!

Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti is the only double album I own and like most of my favourite albums it is vinyl and as I no longer have a turntable it doesn't get listened to!

My turntable, amp and speakers have been in the loft for years now but I may get them down and see if they still work and I've still got all my favourite vinyl albums (also in the loft). I remember going into the local record shop and buying a new LP every Saturday after I got paid on the Friday. It was truly a wonderful experience because for me the album artwork was as much of the experience as listening to the music. Many a time I'd pick up a little gem purely because I liked the cover 🙂

I've got a few triple albums too - ELP - Welcome Back My Friends to the Show That Never Ends – Ladies and Gentlemen and Yessongs

The Tool album is the only one of those I don't have on vinyl. I got the fancy CD with a screen built into the case for some audio visual arty stuff.

I got Disraeli Gears because of the cover, that got me into Cream

Jethro Tull - Minstrel in the Gallery

Yes - Drama

Yes - Fragile

Play these on vinyl regularly, twice in the past 2 weeks

A close 4th is Zeppelin - In through the Outdoor

5th is Moody Blues - In Search of the lost Chord

Excellent choices Phil. Yuo can't beat some Yes.

The first time I heard Jethro Tull was when my sister bought the double compilation album Living in the Past, I was blown away and Minstrel in the Gallery is definitely my favourite of theirs. I went to see them at the NEC, unfortunately Ian Anderson had a sore throat but even so it was still a great gig.

Seen Tull 8 times over the years.

Minstrel was the soundtrack to a special time in my life. A great sing along album.

Saw Zepp once, regretably never seen Yes.

At one time, The Nice - 5 Bridges Suite or Elergy would have been up there but tastes change with age
