Raptor fest today.

I went for a trip to Stone Creek Road, Sunk Island today and beleive me when I say what a raptor fest it was. Between 13.30 and 16.30 we saw the following all very close indeed.

 

8 x short eared owls

4 x ring tailed hen harriers

2 x barn owls

1 x rough legged buzzard

3 x common buzzards

2 x merlin

1x peregrine

1 x sparrowhawk

4 x kestrals

 

I don't have any photos as I decided to bring my the new spotting scope instead. I have raided the bank to get a Swarovski 95mm ATX. Next time I go I'll take the camera as well.

 

So if anyone is interested in raptors go along.

That's a lot of different species, it must be heaving with prey and superb habitat.

It's a great scope Ron, not cheap thats for sure but impressive.

 

It's of the Hull to Spurn road the A1033. Turn of at either Thorngumbald or Ottringham and head for Stone Creek Road. Park at the bridge by the harbour and walk along Cherry Cobb Sands Road. Put these co-ords into google   53.65646  -0.13704
