East vs West

This summer I'm determined to build myself a little obshed in the back garden. I don't think I'll get away with plonking it in the middle of the lawn so I'm going to have to prioritise the east or west. Is it a purely subjective thing or is there an area of the sky that everyone would rather cover?

Which ever has the best horizon and least light pollution.

Or if into solar system decide if you are likely to be there morning or evening.

Just a thought, I don't know, but I'm wondering if west would be best as earlier in the evening you'd get less interference from a rising moon when it is getting full.

Due to having a house covering most of my western skies I generally tend to observe to the east & south (the lights of Derby illuminate the north) and tend to catch objects as they are rising rather than setting.

I agree with Ibbo (Steve), best horizon and least LP..

West is definitely better for low horizon and LP. I can cover SE to west pretty well apart from one large tree. I was leaning that way unless there was any compelling reason to point the other way.
