Picture of the Month February 2024

The great British weather was against any astronomy this month, with very little in the way of clear spells and the number of images posted reflect that. So if you managed to get out there grabbing photons either with eye or camera then kudos to you.

Lets hope for a better March weather wise. I for one have had enough of storms.

So I will include all in my round up this month.

Deep Sky

Ibbo kicked us off with an M42 in Ha

Then a stunner of a shot of SH2-155

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/23595-sh2-155-sho/

Then a fascinating insight into the Jellyfish Nebula area

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/23627-nebulosity-near-tejat-prior-posterior-ic-443-444/

Derbyshire Dave gave us a super widefield shot of IC410

Lunar

Stu gave us a couple of shots

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/23625-full-moon/

Graham gave us a labour of love, 114 pane mosaic, well done that man.

Solar

Graham caught some rays

Ibbo also

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/23609-prom-disc-fro-12-2-24ha/

Some excellent WL close ups

As you can see the weather has certainly affected the number of images posted this month but those that were posted are exceptionally good.

So good that I cannot for the life of me choose a single best image, so I am going to chicken out this month and say there are 3 winners this month:-

Ibbo SH2-155 in SHO

Derbyshire Dave  IC410

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/23586-ic-410-area-widefield-in-ha-or-how-many-stars/

and Graham 114 pane mosaic of the Moon
