A scruffy M51

To the untrained eye (me) it doesn't look too scruffy at all.

DSO IC 4278 (below left)  is well resolved ; not bad considering its almost 18th magnitude !

 

I'd say a very successful image 👍🏼🔭

Looks pretty good to me too Steve.  M51 has always been a bit scruffy - it never really recovered from its interaction with NGC 5195. 🤪

Regardless of issues, which are not conspicuous to me in your original image, your M51 is a beautiful sight! 👍

I'm impressed and I doubt I'd get anything near it, even if I had the equipment.
