Hello Ladies and Gents,

Its been sometime since the PDDS group has had any meetings or contact. Despite this we are still running this years Peak Star Party (PSP). This will take place at the same location as last year, Shallow Grange at Chelmorton. All the details can be found here http://www.peakstarparty.co.uk/

Last year we had a great party but the marshals were extremely busy pulling things together all through the weekend.

This year we have done things slightly different and put on more workshops and things to see and do along with on site catering. We will be having the BBC stay with us for the weekend and visits from various schools and groups. See the website for the full line up, I think you may be surprised by how much we have put into the whole weekend.

We would like you the local Astronomy societies to assist us a little in a few of the tasks we need to complete. Don’t panic there is no public speaking or live TV appearances, just manning the gate for the arrival of day visitors and general assistance with other activities (The little things that take up the time).

We require two persons from each society for each day of the event. The help will be for 2hrs and will then give the rest of the day for your members to enjoy that day free of charge.

In a nut shell 2hrs work for a free day ticket for two members each day.

We will need names of the persons taking us up on this offer before Tuesday 16th October. Replies to [email protected] (can you also CC me in if possible)

Although a great number of spaces have been sold we can always make a little more room if any of your members wish to spend the whole weekend camping at the party. Please book these places through the website.
